Jack Benny

Born on this day in 1894, in Waukegan, Illinois, actor and comedian, Jack Benny. Benny was one of radio’s most popular entertainers through the 1930’s and ’40’s. He later moved into television and film, starring in George Washington Slept Here, with Ann Sheridan, and It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, with a cast of thousands. In retirement, he maintained a friendship with Johnny Carson, and frequently appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show.
